Infected or Cracked Teeth

Dr. Ghada S. Massabni is proud to treat patients in Woburn, MA when they have infected or cracked teeth. All teeth have between one and four root canals. Root canals are passageways that branch off from beneath the top of the tooth. They go downward until they reach the tip of the root. When they become infected or cracked, it is important that you seek treatment right away.

Tooth problems will typically spread to infections in the pulp. The pulp contains blood vessels, nerves, and other tissues in the inner chamber of the tooth. When it becomes infected, it can affect the roots. When your inner tooth has a disease, it can cause pain and sensitivity. A spreading infection can cause small pockets of pus, which can lead to abscesses.

Root canal therapy is a treatment that has a high success rate. Dr. Massabni removes the diseased tissue, which prevents the infection from spreading any further, and this restores the healthy portion of the root. Root canal therapy is designed to save a tooth that is having issues.

Root canal therapy typically entails one to three visits to our practice. During your first visit, a small hole is drilled through the top of the tooth and into the inner chamber. Any tissue that is diseased is then removed, and the inner chamber is cleaned and disinfected. Finally, the tiny canals are reshaped. The cleansed chamber is filled with an elastic material and medication. This is designed to prevent infection. We always have the latest technology in our office so that you recover faster. We are pleased to offer Ti Auto ZX and DENTSPLY Torque Control Motor to our patients.

Most patients that receive root canal therapy experience little to no pain. We are proud to assist patients from Woburn, Winchester, Stoneham, Burlington, Wakefield, and the surrounding areas.
