Dr. Ghada S. Massabni and the entire staff work from a model. Veneers are irreversible. We remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth to accommodate for the shell. If you have had a root canal procedure, injury, discoloration in the teeth, or have a gap, porcelain veneers may be the answer for you.
To receive veneers, three appointments are required. These three visits entail diagnosis and treatment planning, preparation, and bonding. The tooth preparation visit typically lasts one or two hours. The teeth are lightly buffed which allows for the small added thickness of veneers. During the same appointment, we create a mold of your teeth. This is sent to the laboratory for the fabrication of the veneers.
During your bonding appointment, we place the veneers on the tooth surface with water or glycerin. We check to ensure they fit correctly and are the perfect color. Once the veneers are resting on your teeth, we can adjust the various shades of cement to match the color of your teeth. To apply the veneer, the tooth is cleansed with specific chemicals. Once the dental cement is between the veneer and the tooth, a visible light beam or laser hardens the cement.
After approximately two weeks, you may notice the change of size and shape in your mouth. It is important that you brush and floss every single day. After one or two weeks, you will return for a follow-up appointment.
